Eleven services, one crew, one yard in Medford. Everything below is work we do ourselves: if a job needs a trade we don’t hold, we’ll tell you that rather than subcontract it quietly and mark it up.
Driveways and surfaces
Asphalt Driveway Paving New installs, full replacements and resurfacing. The decision that matters is whether your existing driveway can carry an overlay or needs to come out: a surface that’s cracked but stable is a different job from one that’s failed at the base. We’ll tell you which you’ve got before we quote it.
Oil & Stone Chip Seal Hot tar sprayed and stone chip rolled in. It suits long rural drives where a full asphalt surface is more than the job needs, and it gives a textured finish with good grip. It’s not a budget version of asphalt. It’s a different product with a different maintenance cycle.
Interlocking Paver Walkways Front paths, side runs and pool surrounds. Edge restraint is the whole game here: a walkway without it spreads at the borders within a couple of freeze-thaw winters and there’s no tidying it afterwards.
Outdoor living
Patio Construction Concrete pavers, natural stone and brick. The two things that separate a patio that lasts from one that doesn’t are base depth and pitch. It should shed water away from the house at roughly a quarter-inch per foot: flat looks better on paper and puddles in practice.
Fire Pits Built-in or freestanding, gas or wood. Size it to the seating, not the other way round, and check the setback from the house and the property line before anyone breaks ground.
Outdoor Kitchens From a built-in grill surround to a full cook line with counters, storage and refrigeration. Utility runs for gas, electric, water and drainage get specified at the design stage. Adding them afterwards means opening the block back up.
Structures and masonry
Retaining Walls Segmental block and natural stone. A retaining wall holds back soil and the water in it, so drainage behind the wall matters as much as the blocks in front. Above a certain height it needs engineering, and in some towns a permit. We’ll say which applies to yours.
Steps & Stoops Rebuilds and new construction in stone, brick or paver tread. Consistent riser heights aren’t a nicety; uneven risers are the most common trip hazard on a front entrance.
Masonry Brick, block and stone work: piers, veneer, garden walls, repointing and repair. Repointing matched to the original mortar, not whatever’s in the mixer.
Chimney Repair The masonry side: repointing, crown repair, flashing, rebuilds. We do not sweep flues or line chimneys. That’s a different trade and you want someone who does only that.
Hardscaping Whole-yard projects where the patio, walls, steps and beds all have to resolve into one grade. This is the service to ask about when the problem isn’t one element but how three of them meet.
